Smith and Wesson is expanding their popular M&P (Military and Police) line of rifles by adding a larger caliber round to the lineup. Today, Smith and Wesson introduced their new M&P15 in 300 Whisper. This will be a welcome addition for hunters that like to hunt with an AR type of rifle but couldn’t use a S&W M&P because of the smaller .223 round.
The new S&W M&P15 300 Whisper has another plus–it can also fire the .300BLK cartridge. As you can see, the MP15 300 Whisper is really aimed at hunters with its Realtree APG camo, but black rifle lovers don’t fret, the MP15 300 Whisper will be available as an upper with a quad rail handguard. Another feature that’s appealing is that it has a threaded barrel in 5/8-24 making owners of .30 caliber suppressors happy. Most surprising though would be the price; the M&P15 300 Whisper complete hunting rifle has an MSRP of only $1,119 and the tactical black upper assembly costs only $819. Looks like the upper is a very obtainable option for shooters who have been wanting to try the new .300 AAC Blackout cartridge. Both should be available very soon since Smith and Wesson started shipping them out to dealers today. Check below for more pics and full specs.
